Corporate Event Photography
One of the areas of my business that has grown steadily over the years is event photography. Clients I shoot for in the normal course of my architectural photography business and my corporate business portraits work attend and host a variety of events, meetings, and conventions. As a result, they call on me to document these events.

I began my professional career in photography by working for several newspapers in the Philadelphia area. Later, I used that experience to help pioneer photojournalistic wedding photography. This candid style of photography now dominates the wedding industry.

I use the same visual narrative to shoot events as I do for the rest of my photography. To tell the story of an event in pictures, I divide the photography into basically two parts.
Grand Views.

The purpose of these shots is to show the scale of the event so viewers will know how successful it was. I try to find an interesting vantage point or find a way to elevate the camera to get over the crowd.

People.
The much larger part of the photography for events is taking candid photos of people. This is really the more important part of the visual narrative. If you can show people having fun, facilitating, intently listening, and enjoying others, that's the real story.
